Fire-Lite Alarms is recommending a field update be performed to MS-9200UDLS, MS- 9200UDLSC and MS-9200UDLSE panels with firmware V4.1 to improve communicator operation. These products were shipped from the factory during November and December 2009 with date codes 4509 to 5009.
The improvement relates to a V4.1 communicator’s processing of panel events after a COM1 fault. Should a COM1 fault occur, 20 subsequent events without a COM1 restore will cause the communicator to stop dialing, until COM1 is restored. During this
condition the panel will continue to process local alarms, activating outputs as configured. Although the possibility of a communication issue is remote, we are recommending this field update be performed at the panel’s next service interval.
To complete the field update flash V4.1 firmware to V4.2. The V4.2 firmware can be found at http://www.firelite.com/support/software.html along with the current version of the Panel Programming Utility (PPU). When updating the panel use cable part number“PRT/PK-CABLE” and follow the instructions included in the PPU Wizard. Date codes may be found on the panel PCB. The firmware version is displayed by the panel LCD upon power up or after panel reset.
Customers may return unopened product to obtain replacement via the normal RMA process. Unopened V4.1 product can be identified by a single letter sticker on the outer carton. A ‘purple Z’ sticker signifies November ‘09, and a ‘red A’ means December ’09 production. If assistance is needed in performing the panel flash update, please contact our technical service department Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time at 1-800-627-3473.
